Woman Using DP Ruto's Name to Trick Kenyans Busted

A woman who used Deputy President William Ruto's name to trick Kenyans has been left with no choice but to cool her heels in remand after she was busted.

In her latest undertaking, Jane Nduku Makau reportedly tricked Philip Musyoki Kiema, a headteacher of Unoa Primary School in Makueni County, that the DP would be visiting to preside over a project on April 7.

After haste preparations to entertain guests, Kiema would later in the evening discover that Ms Makau had knowingly pulled a prank on him.

She was, therefore, on Tuesday, arraigned in court and charged with giving false information to a primary school headteacher.

Appearing before Resident Magistrate Joan Otieno she pleaded not guilty.

She was as a result awarded a Ksh50,000 bond with an alternative of Ksh30,000 cash bail but was remanded after she failed to raise any of the two.

The case is set for mention on May 8, 2019.

This comes just months after seven suspects were busted using President Uhuru Kenyatta's name and mimicking his voice to swindle Ksh10 million from a businessman.

Kenyans.co.ke reported in February this year that one of the suspects, Isaac Wanjekeche Wanyonyi, who was seemingly the brains behind the entire operation, enjoyed high profile contacts and interactions.

He might have had initial contact with the president, DP William Ruto, Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka, and Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa.
