Nairobi Hospital on Wednesday announced that it had terminated the contract of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)- Gordon Otieno Odundo.
In the memo, the hospital's board chairman-John Simba, stated that they had arrived at the decision to part ways with Mr Odundo unanimously.
"We came to the decision after consideration of all the relevant factors pertaining to the office," an excerpt of the memo revealed.
Mr Simba went on to disclose that the board was in the process of searching for a suitable replacement, adding that Christopher Abeid would take the reins on an acting capacity for the time being.
Boardroom wars at the hospital intensified last year leading the board to send Mr Odundo on a 90-day forced leave, with the board citing the need to complete an ongoing forensic audit as the core reason.
Back then, photos of the former CEO’s office locked with a huge chain embarassed the entire hospital as they were shared across various social media platforms.
The board went on and extended his suspension to April 13, 2019 as they openly fought for control of the medical institution.
Mr Odundo's firing came just a day after a Nairobi Hospital staff allegedly died while seven others were reportedly admitted following a cholera outbreak at the premier health facility in the Kenyan capital.
Sources at the hospital revealed that at least 23 cases of the water-borne disease, eight involving staff, had been treated at the facility in April alone.
