The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), on Thursday, issued a notice announcing the closure of the overpass at GSU headquarters at the junction of Thika Super Highway and Outering Road.
In a statement, the authority stated that the three-month closure was to facilitate construction to improve traffic flow at the overpass.
The road will be closed from Easter Monday until July 2019.
"Due to the ongoing construction works to improve the junction between Thika Super Highway and Outer Ring Road, the Public is hereby notified that the Contractor shall close the overpass at GSU Headquarters as from Monday, 22nd April, 2019 till Thursday 18th July, 2019 (three months)," the statement read in part.
During the construction period, motorists will be required to use alternative routes.
Thika Bound traffic from Outering Ring Road will use Right Hand Service Road of Thika Super Highway and Turn Right on the underpass at Survey of Kenya.
Airport-bound traffic from Nairobi CBD through Outer Ring will proceed ahead using left-hand side service road of Thika Super Highway up to the Garden City overpass turn right and drive back to access Outer Ring Road.
Traffic coming from Outer Ring Road and want to drive back to Outer Ring Road will drive up to the Survey of Kenya Underpass, turn right and continue up to Garden City Overpass, turn right again to drive back to access Outer Ring Road.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your continued understanding and co-operation," KURA explained.
