Atwoli Reveals Time He Urged Uhuru to Fire Ruto

Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General, Dr Francis Atwoli, speaking at the COTU national prayer day held at St. Stephens ACK church in Nairobi on Sunday, revealed that he urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to fire his Deputy President William Ruto.

Mr Atwoli stated that his decades of experience qualified him as an authority and that whenever he laid any accusations at any individual should be construed as the truth

If you want to shame one another, come to Francis Atwoli, na nikisema wewe ni mwizi, wewe ni mwizi, loosely translating to (if I point you out to be a thief, that means you are a thief)," he asserted.

In his fiery address, Mr Atwoli reminded the congregation that he was the one who actually dismissed DP Ruto from a prayer event back in 2014, going on to add that he called President Uhuru urging him to fire his deputy.

"2014 I am the one who dismissed Ruto from this pulpit here, and I asked President Uhuru to sack him," he revealed.

The firebrand secretary-general recounted how he had voted for Mzee Jomo Kenyatta back in 1969 at a Bahati polling station.

"I voted for Kenyatta, I don't think anyone here was present then, I voted for him here in Bahati in 1969, shenzi sana (loosely translating to 'very stupid), in 1966 Kenyatta had inexplicably dismissed Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Raila's father," Atwoli divulged.

Mr Atwoli urged Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko, who was also present at the event to show no mercy in his fight against corruption and lauded his random spot-checks on development projects within the city.

The COTU Secretary-General had earlier in the month refuted claims that he wished death upon DP Ruto

He went on to reaffirm that his message was that Ruto will not be in the next government after changes are made to the Constitution.

“While I was in Lamu, I did not say that Ruto will die, no, but I said the referendum is coming and that there will be six slots, mark my words, Kalonzo Musyoka will be among the six but Ruto’s name will not be there,” he revealed during the burial of former Cotu Secretary General,Justus Mulei, Velle at Kakeani in Kitui West on April 18, 2019.
