Woman With Dead Foetus Stuck for 3 Days at KNH

A woman identified as Kambua Muli is reportedly stuck at the labour ward at Kenyatta National Hospital for the third day in a row with her dead foetus still inside her womb.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, a source (a well-wisher looking to find help for Muli), who prefered anonymity, gave a detailed narration of the events that led up to Ms Muli's current heart-wrenching state.

Set to have her delivery on May 2, 2019, Muli made her way to the referral hospital on April 30, 2019, and got admitted to the labour ward bed number 1991897.

However, on her due date, the staff at the hospital didn't show up and as she wasn't experiencing labour pains, she didn't make much of it at the time.

Medics finally made their way to her three days later and took her to the delivery room only for them to hand her the worst news possible after a routine scan.

Her unborn baby was declared dead and instead of attending to her current medical situation by evacuating the foetus from the womb, she was wheeled back to the labour ward and informed that she'd be attended to in a few hours.

It has now been three days since and her pain is becoming unbearable, with the source disclosing that basic body functions like relieving herself or even getting out of bed is proving harder and harder.

"Despite the health risk posed by the dead foetus still inside her, Ms Muli is undergoing emotional trauma," our sources divulged.

Muli (who is a street vegetable vendor) also added that she was having trouble eating as the pain was becoming unbearable urging that all she wants is anyone to help her get the dead baby out.

When contacted, the hospital allegedly stated that since the source was not a medic, she had no idea what the necessary procedures were.

By the time of publishing, Ms Muli was yet to receive medical attention, making it four days since her unborn baby was declared dead, yet still stuck inside her.

The source went on to reveal that Ms Muli's story had touched Nairobi Women Representative, Esther Passaris, who isn't in Nairobi but has reportedly sent some of her officials to look into the matter.
