Couple Buries Fake Twins After Lying to Relatives About Pregnancy

A couple from Homa Bay County was forced to organise a funeral and bury toy twins after reportedly lying to their relatives about their expectancy.

The two who hails from Kamsama Village in Suba North carried out the brief burial on Tuesday, a move that angered the local residents who exhumed the bodies only to find tiny toys.

The Standard Newspaper reported that the husband, who is a carpenter, prepared the coffins and proceeded to Kabunde Airstrip where the wife was to come with the toys in an aircraft.

On arrival to their home, they buried the toys a few minutes after that which was contrary to areas culture in which the relatives and attendees of the funeral are given time to view the body of the deceased.

Casting a doubt at the whole saga, the woman's brother-in-law Wycliffe Ogembo revealed that she left home approximately two weeks ago to go and deliver.

She further claimed that she checked in at Homa Bay Hospital and was transferred to Aga Khan Hospital before being airlifted to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) due to the complicated nature of the pregnancy.

“Homa Bay hospital handles cesarean section cases, we also realised that she took 30 minutes at Agha Khan Hospital and was already admitted at Kenyatta National Hospital which is not possible,” posed Ogembo.

Amazingly, the family had bought the story until the couple claimed that the children had passed on at birth.

A representative from the Aga Khan in Kisumu also revealed that the hospital had not admitted any pregnant woman matching the description of the woman in question.

The burial proceeding also angered the residents who descended on the couple and only escaped death after police intervened and took them to custody at Mbita Police Station.

“We are investigating many loose links and they are not yet adding up...Did the woman fake pregnancy to please her husband and lied to him that she gave birth to twins, but the babies died? Or did they conspire to sell the twins after birth?" questioned a police officer.
