Details of Raila Junior and Dad's Meeting With Niger President

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and his son, Raila Odinga Junior met the president Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger at his presidential palace in Niamey.

The two leaders held discussions on the African continental free trade area, the Inga Dam, as well as the open skies agreement.

They also talked about the upcoming AU summit slated for July in Niamey.

On his Facebook page, Raila Junior expressed his delight at meeting the Niger president as well as his son Sani Mohamadou.

"A privilege and an honor to be part of the delegation to meet President Of Niger Mahamadou Issoufou with his son Sani Mohamadou," he posted.

In October 2018, the ODM leader faced criticism from a section of Kenyans online after allowing Winnie Odinga, his daughter, in a high-level meeting on his first engagement as a special African Union envoy.

Odinga's daughter had accompanied his father for the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD)  South Africa where, in a video shared on Twitter, she was seen taking notes from the deliberations.

After emerging from the meeting, Winnie and the former Prime Minister's social media pages uploaded photos of their meeting.

It was the first time Winnie Odinga's facebook shared a post since August that year, therefore, attracting criticism from the social spheres with suspicions that she had been picked to be the dad's personal secretary during the meeting.
