Man in Court For Conning Senator Ksh200k on Facebook

A man was, on Tuesday, arraigned in court charged with conning Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina out of Ksh200,000.

The suspect identified as Peter Njoroge is said to convinced the senator to give him a contract to construct a cowshed.

The senator is said to have called a number from the Facebook page of Pensmart Dairy Solutions and the phone was picked by Njoroge who gave the legislator a different number to reach him on.

Njoroge was invited to the senator's office where he was informed of a cowshed project that the law maker required to be constructed.

It is at this point that they both travelled to Narok where Ole Kina resides and Njoroge was shown the plan and where the cowshed was to be built.

After the review of the project, the two settled for a fee of Ksh320,000 and that the works would start immediately.

Ole Kina immediately made a down payment of Ksh200,000.

Two weeks after the agreement, works were yet to begin and Njoroge could not be reached on phone. When he picked he kept making empty promises.

It is at this point that the senator reported the matter to the police.

The accused then refunded Ksh50,000 after admitting he was unable to deliver the project and that the rest of the cash had been spent on costs for the project.

Njoroge was arrested and charged with intent to defraud the senator a charge he denied and was released on a cash bail of Ksh150,000.
