NHIF Exposes 3 Companies Scamming Kenyans With Fake Contributions

The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) has cautioned Kenyans against companies out to scam them while purporting to collect premiums on its behalf.

In a statement released to the public, the fund singled out three companies that had been conning members of the public noting that they had lodged a complaint against them to the police.

The three companies include Muungano Mwema enterprise that is also referred to as John Macharia Gichocho that operates in Nyeri County, Josmah Commercial Agencies in Nyeri County and Lee Factor Enterprises Services found in Murang'a County.

The commission further warned the public from falling prey to the companies especially since several others were still at large countrywide.

"NHIF wishes to notify the public that it has not appointed any groups to collect money from members of the public on behalf of the organisation. The groups and individuals purporting to collect money on behalf of the fund as NHIF agents are doing so illegally and defrauding members of the public.

"Members of the public are requested to report such individuals or groups purporting to be NHIF agents to the police," read the statement in part.

The organisation further took the opportunity to explain to the public on ways they can directly deal with NHIF without having to include the purported middlemen.

The only legitimate ways to carry out transactions is through the branch offices that are dotted across the country as well as Huduma Centers.

"Monthly payments of Ksh 500 by self-employed people should only be made through M-Pesa entering ID number as your account number," continued the statement. The Paybill number is 200222.
