8 Nairobi Roads to Be Closed Tomorrow

Eight roads will be closed in Nairobi on Saturday as the city plays host to the annual Mater Heart Run.

The event, that starts at 7 am, will see major streets and roads closed to facilitate the smooth running of the marathon.

The race will start at the KICC leading to closure of City Hall Way. Parliament Road will also be affected as the athletes turn towards Uhuru highway.

The other roads to be affected include Lang’ata Road, Aerodrome Road, and Mbagathi Way.

Valley Road and Ngong Road up to the city mortuary roundabout will also be closed for the race.

The organizers of the event expect that the race will be over by 11 am to avoid over inconveniencing residents of the capital.

For security’s sake, the roads will be manned by traffic officers at the affected junctions ad roundabouts and also along the listed roads to control traffic.

This race is set to take place simultaneously in 10 cities including Nairobi, Mombasa, Machakos, Kisumu and for the very first time, Kericho.

In Nairobi, the race will be flagged off by marathon world record holder Eliud Kipchoge at the KICC at 7 am.

The race is used to raise money to aid heart surgery for needy Kenyans with the program growing from 20 to 200 heart surgeries every year.

Since its inception in 1995, the program can take pride in performing over 3000 heart procedures in the management of Rheumatic fever.
