Kiambu MCA Arrested for Driving Vehicle Portraying Ruto as Commander-in-Chief [PHOTOS]

Police in Kiambu, on Monday, arrested Weitethie MCA for driving a vehicle which displayed an image of Deputy President William Ruto as the Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces.

The legislator, Julius Macharia, was apprehended together with his driver George Ngugi as they were in a vehicle that had its body displaying a portrait of Ruto in full military gear.

A police report stated, "DCI officers acting on a tip-off arrested the said MCA and his driver namely George Ngugi Kiarie. The duo was driving a motor vehicle Reg No. KCQ 918U Toyota Hiace.

In addition to having DP Ruto's image in full military fatigue, the vehicle also had the graffiti of the Coat of Arms and the National flag of Kenya.

The vehicle was detained at Juja Police Station yard pending investigations and processing.

The duo is set to appear in court on Tuesday for the offence of contravening Section 3(a) CAP 99 Laws of Kenya of the National Flag, Emblems and Names Act.

The section states that “No person shall, except with the written permission of the Minister … use any specified emblem, specified name or specified likeness, or any colourable imitation thereof, in furtherance of, or display the same as an advertisement for, any trade, business, calling or profession.”

Kenyans.co.ke reached out to Juja OCS, OCPD and the Kiambu county commander who were all dodgy over the arrest.

"That matter, you should speak to the Juja OCPD because my office doesn't have any information on that," Kiambu County Commander Ali told this writer over the phone.
