Police Nab Probox Full of Pangas Ahead of Planned Attack

Police in Bungoma arrested three suspects in connection to a looming attack in Bumula constituency, Bungoma county.

The three were circulating leaflets with warning messages informing residents of an attack that was to happen.

The terrified residents tipped off the police concerning the stipulated attack who in turn launched a manhunt for the said suspects.

“Leaflets have been circulating in the constituency warning residents they will be attacked at any time, I thank the public for volunteering information which has led to the arrest,” explained Mabong.

Reports by People Daily indicate that the area MP, Mwambu Mabongo, stated the police arrested the trio while purchasing pangas at Mynga market.

The legislator further stated that the suspects had a probox vehicle which contained more pangas and other crude weapons.

This comes after Mombasa county commissioner Evans Achoki set tough conditions for anyone who needed to buy a panga in the county.

In a bid to curb crime, Achoki, who spoke at Madaraka Day celebrations on Saturday, directed all outlets to register those buying machetes in a bid to curb crime.

He announced that all traders in the region that deal with pangas were supposed to collect details of the national identity cards and telephone numbers of the buyers.

The traders were also required to provide the buyers with receipts for easy government monitoring.
