A section of the busy Nairobi-Nakuru highway will remain closed starting from June 6, 2019, until further notice.
The management of James Gichuru Road Junction - Rironi Highway (A104) Project through their contractor, China Wu Yi company issued the new travel notice on Monday.
"Traffic headed to Nakuru from Nairobi shall be temporarily diverted just after Amana Petrol Station to the left-hand side on Muhuri road then back on the highway after the bridge," an excerpt of the letter signed by site agent, Zhang Miaopong disclosed.
The diversion which is set to affect the busy highway will be created to allow for the demolition of the existing bridge at 87 (Kinoo area) as well as the construction of a new one.
"On the other hand traffic headed to Nairobi from Nakuru shall be diverted to the left-hand side on Muhuri road and then back to the main carriageway at Club Salama," the notice revealed.
Motorists and pedestrians were advised to approach the designated areas with caution and to observe all directional warning signs.
The management tasked with the rehabilitation of the busy highway went on to urge motorists to observe slow speeds while approaching the area, as there would be a heavy presence of construction vehicles, machinery and personnel.
