Ruto's Convoy Runs Over 7-Year-Old-Boy

One of the cars in Deputy President William Ruto's convoy was reported to have run over a seven-year-old child in Budalangi, Busia County on Friday.

A Royal Media-owned news website reported that the accident happened at 4.50pm after the DP left St Benedict's Budalangi Secondary School.

Rosemary Adema, the boy's mother, told reporters that her son was in a “heartbreaking medical state”.

A junior police officer from Port Victoria disclosed that a report of the incident was filed and investigations were underway.

The car was said to be carrying the DP's communication team.

Attempts to reach Ruto's press team were futile as his communications secretary did not answer our calls or respond to our texts.

During his tour of Busia County, Ruto handed over of a five-acre parcel of land to the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Institute from the county government.

"We appreciate Busia County for providing land to the national government for the construction of a fisheries research and training centre, which will spur the marine industry through sharing best practices and advancing knowledge," Ruto announced.

The DP also launched a Ksh5.8 billion 10,000-acre Lower Nzoia Irrigation Project that is expected to benefit households living in Port Victoria.

"Irrigation supports diversification, which helps meet dietary needs of a growing population; saves labour costs; reduces reliance on rain-fed agriculture and promotes food security," he noted.
