Orengo’s Plea To Uhuru Over 2022 Elections

Siaya Senator James Orengo pleaded with President Uhuru Kenyatta to ask his Jubilee camp to obey the directive to abscond 2022 campaigns, just like the National Super Alliance (NASA) have obeyed Raila Odinga’s similar directive.

Orengo was speaking at the burial of Dorka Owino, the late mother of Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyongo on Friday.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Senator criticised Kenyatta's Jubilee Party, saying its members were yet to co-operate yet the President ordered that focus should be on building Kenya, not the next general election.

“You, our commanders, have told us to put our arms down. The NASA brigade has done that. Please ask your troops to also keep quiet so that we can build one Kenya. Otherwise, the journey will be difficult," Orengo pleaded with Uhuru.

“You have said categorically that people should forget about 2022 because you want to build this nation to ensure inclusivity, which is becoming a reality. The agenda we have for 2022 is so substantive that all our energies should be put together. We know you mean well but in politics meaning well is not good enough," Orengo warned Uhuru.

Orengo clarified that ODM trusts the two leaders to guide the country into a new dispensation that includes a referendum.

That is why we support the Building Bridges Initiative. We want to ensure peace and stability prevail," the experienced lawyer revealed.

Orengo went on to heap praise on how the two leader’s famous handshake move has ensured the country is stable and at peace.

How sweet it is that you can share this platform. It was difficult to live in my own town. Now I can sleep,” Orengo happily stated.

The Siaya Senator further promised the President that the Nyanza region firmly supports the President and the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
