Police Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai on Tuesday evening visited the police officers who were injured by an explosion along the Kenya Somali border while on patrol.
The officers were admitted at Nairobi Hospital where they are receiving treatment after the incident that happened on June 15.
The IG also visited officers who were injured after suspected armed bandits shot at them while on their way from Lokori at Kaleso area in Turkana county on June 12.
The IG presented the patients with get well soon cards bearing heartwarming messages that encouraged their steady recovery.
The concerned Hillary further thanked the law enforcers for their selfless service to the country.
Past Reports by The Standard indicated that 8 Administration Police officers died in the explosion.
The officers were conducting security surveillance along the Kenya-Somalia border when the attack happened.
IG Mutyambai issued a statement confirming the tragic incident that claimed the lives of his officers.
"The Inspector General National Police Service wishes to inform the public that this morning at around 10.50am, a police land cruiser aboard 11 police officers was hit by an Improvised Explosive Device. The officers were on patrol between Khorof-Harar and Konton in Wajir County along the Kenya -Somalia border.
"I have dispatched additional resources including aerial surveillance capability to continue with the operation. Further updates to follow," his statement read.
