A tractor driver, Ouma Jawuoche, allegedly crushed his turnboy accidentally in Awendo sub-county.
The area chief, David Ochieng Kanyimach, narrated that the turnboy was in the tractor with the driver when it hit a pot, making him fall off.
“The two were riding together on the tractor after immediately coming from a weighbridge in Ranen area, the deceased fell down and was crushed to death with the tractor, and died instantly,” he highlighted.
On seeing this, the driver panicked and tried to escape from the scene of the incident.
“We found him close to midnight yesterday when the tractor was packed in the middle of a sugarcane plantation, his friends identified him from the tractor left behind,” he added.
Awendo OCPD, Mary Musyoka stated that the driver was arrested and taken to Awendo Police Station.
She disclosed that after a long search, Jawuoche appeared on his own and went to check the tractor at the place he had left it.
“Police said that the two, the driver and his turnboy, were at Ranen weighbridge and left together before the accident,” she narrated.
The deceased body was taken to Rosewood Mortuary where an autopsy will be conducted.
