Sonko Impersonators Arrested With Incriminating Evidence

Suspected impersonators of Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko, were arrested during a raid in Umoja Estate, Nairobi on Thursday.

Sonko provided a live feed of the entire arrest on his official Facebook page and thanked the police officers for their swift response.

"I'm happy to note security agencies have today arrested a couple of suspects in Nairobi's Umoja estate," he posted.

Two men were placed in handcuffs as the officers combed through the mountain of evidence they found within the premises.

Countless copies of national identification cards were found in the apartment as well as cartons of documents that were confiscated by the police.

Sonko had highlighted the numerous cases of Kenyans being defrauded by the notorious impostors using his name to set up fake social media accounts and a loan App scam as well.

"Many Kenyans have been conned by online fraudsters who have been using my name to commit fraud through fake Facebook accounts," the Governor affirmed.

He went on to warn Kenyans against falling for the fraudsters by providing his official social media accounts and the ways one should use to verify authenticity.

"I want to caution members of the public not to fall prey to such fraudsters who are using fake Facebook accounts and Google Apps to swindle money from innocent members of the public," he reiterated.

Sonko also urged any Kenyan who had fallen victim to the elaborate scam to report the incident to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) or the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

The arrest came just a day after he had exposed the fraudsters on his Facebook page.
