Netizens Troll Passaris After AFCON Error

Nairobi woman representative Esther Passaris was trolled by netizens after she made a profound error, stating that Zimbabwe is the host country of continental showpiece African Cup of Nations (AFCON) instead of Egypt.

Passaris was responding to a question posed to her by a netizen, who asked her to chose sides between Zimbabwe and Egypt, the host nation, as the two countries faced off yesterday in the first match of the tourney, which ended 1-0 in favor of the Pharaohs.

Zimbabwe as the host Nation will have ground support. Having said that they are all winners but only one will emerge at the top and my prayer and dream is for Harambee Stars,” Passaris responded naively.

Her tweet stirred up other Kenyans who were quick to point out her enormous error.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry but to put this into perspective are these are the leaders we elected, most of the time they have no clue of what is happening both in Kenya and around the world,” one Bill Stern stated.

Others defended her, noting punctuation errors in her statement.

“She just forgot to add a comma after Zimbabwe,” Ian Muyumba noted.

Passaris went on to defend herself in various tweets, highlighting the punctuation error.

English is obviously not your mother tongue. Egypt is the host Nation with ground support. So I support Zimbabwe. Sad that your low self-esteem can't allow you to spread love,” Passaris declined to bow down to defeat.

She even went on to further simplify the answer so as to ensure the netizens noted her correction in the tweet.
