Willis Raburu Blasts Khalwale for Shaming Harambee Stars

Citizen TV journalist, Willis Raburu has blasted former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale following a tweet posted by the politician that demeaned the national football team, Harambee Stars.

Khalwale posted his controversial tweet shortly after the national soccer team was floored two goals to nil by Desert Foxes of Algeria. The western politician went on to term the team as very useless.

"Algeria 2-0 Kenya. ..Harambee Stars displayed nothing but an amazing total lack of attacking ideas in this match which they completed without a single shot on target! Bure kabisa (very useless)! "read Khalwale's tweet.

The 10 Over 10 presenter did not take it kindly and posted his stinging feedback that made fellow Kenyans join his side and give their sentiments on the issue.

"This is just sad! We should uplift our boys not publicly shame them! It’s the first time in 15 years! At least we are there! We learn and grow! " Raburu's reply read.

Prior to Khalwale's message to the Stars, politicians including former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga and Sports CS, Amina Mohammed had sent encouraging texts to the players hyping them up for their next match against Tanzania's national team.

Many netizens ridiculed the embattled politician telling him not to confuse football matches with bullfighting.

A user by the name Muhudin replied to Khalwale, "First you have to understand that football is not bullfighting it’s a complex game beyond your bullfight imagination."

Another by the name Mutahi Muriithi questioned Khalwale's role as a leader in helping the national team

"And in your many years in power circles, what have you done about the national football team? Wewe ndiye bure kabisa, kichwa maji tabia mbaya(You are very useless with an empty head, bad manners!) he commented.

Below are some reactions of Kenyans to Khalwale's post.
