Female Suspect Dead After Police Vehicle Rolls Over

A police vehicle in Mtito Andei on Friday rolled over killing one suspect and injuring 11 others and two police officers.

The vehicle was transporting the 12 suspects from Mtito Andei Police Station to Makindu local courts.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Mtito Andei Officer Commanding Station (OCS), Ezrah Sambu, confirmed the accident resulted from a tire burst causing the vehicle to roll over.

The casualties were rushed to Makindu Level Five hospital for treatment.

According to Sambu, three of the suspects, John Kyalo, John Mburu and John Kimondio, who were accused of defilement, were admitted to the hospital for further treatment.

The OCS further noted that the suspect who died was initially charged for being in possession of bhang and illicit brew.

The other suspects, Wambua Musili and Alfred Mutei Mutua were accused of housebreaking, Alex Ndeto Mutendi, Peter Mutuku and Jackson Mutuku Mutiso for defilement and Mutinda Daudi was a convict.

This comes after three police officers in Trans Mara, Narok County, were on Thursday, injured after angry residents stormed Lolgorian Police Station.

The residents, who raided the station roughing up the officers, claimed continued harassment by the police.

Trans Mara West county police commander Dahir Abdullahi stated that the duty officers were injured while preventing the locals from accessing the station and that “no civilian was injured.”
