State House Boss Set to Compete in World Rally Championship

The State House Chief of Staff and the Head of President's Delivery Unit, Nzioka Waita will be participating at the World Rally Championship that will begin on July 5, 2019.

He will be navigated by co-driver Laban-Cliff Onserio in car No. 60, a Mitsubishi Evolution 9 according to a Facebook post by the Presidential Delivery Unit.

The State House boss will be competing with Ian Duncan, a six-time winner of the Kenya Rally Championship.

State House spokesperson Kanze Dena stated that President Uhuru Kenyatta will be in attendance during the event that will take place at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

She added that the chief of staff would be making a comeback after several years of absence.

"We look forward to a thrilling competition over the three days and ask motorsport enthusiasts to come out in large numbers to support our Kenyan participants, among them the State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita in Car No. 60," she told the press.

On his part, the Chairman of the World Championship Safari Rally Project, Phineas Kimathi highlighted that the big names participating in the rally this year, would help get the project get to the next level.

"When professional teams show interest in participating, it really gives us encouragement and hope of getting the WRC status next year. I am happy with the news," he cited.

He added that the country has met all FIA regulations and standards towards the hosting of the event.

“For the last one year we have worked tirelessly to meet all the FIA conditions, I am glad to present a well-planned and 2019 Safari Rally,”he noted.

All the drivers set to participate in this years event are from Italy, Belgium, UK Zambia, Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya.
