Nairobi Woman Representative, Esther Passaris, on Wednesday showed her prowess in pulling a handcart also known as mkokoteni.
The incident took place in the capital, where she handed out over 340 handcarts and wheelbarrows to various self-help groups within the county.
The delighted members of the public cheered her on as she pulled the carts.
According to Passaris, the strikingly pink mkokotenis and green wheelbarrows were to help the youth earn a living.
These will help especially in the movement of household goods and will also be short-term solutions to the transportation of water in informal settlements.
The move will ensure a cleaner Nairobi city as they could also be used to facilitate the collection of garbage.
The wheelbarrows are said to have cost a total Ksh2.5 million and the handcarts also amounted to Ksh7 million which, according to Passaris, was not enough.
She further disclosed that the woman representative's office was not allocated enough funds to commit to various projects thus urged the county to look into the matter.
Recently, she issued free 50 inch smart TVs, decoders paid for five months, a cage to secure the TV and 50 chairs in each of the 85 wards in Nairobi, with which, the youth would use to create business opportunities.
"For example, if the youth charge Ksh 10 for 50 people to come and watch the TV, they will have Ksh 500," stated Passaris at the time.
However, three TVs were lost on the same day as some rowdy youth tried to get the television sets forcefully.
