Waititu's Reinstated Senior Staff Abandon Him Again

Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu is a man at crossroads after six of the senior staff that he reinstated barely two weeks ago ditched him again.

Led by Chief Finance Officer, Faith Njeri Harrison, the six quit a second time in protest of what they termed as meddling in their dockets.

The director of accounting services, his deputy and three other accountants also tended their resignations over the governor's alleged interference in the payment of the county bills.

The second resignations came a day after the county enforcement officers raided the county’s finance department on Monday evening and changed the door locks.

Shortly before Njeri had received a transfer to the low trade docket and her office occupied by Public Administration Chief Officer Wilson Kinyanjui.

Kinyanjui’s last project with county government was the controversial Kaa Sober campaign that is still a subject of an investigation by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission(EACC).

Ann Muchai, who was appointed alongside Kinyanjui, took over the director of accounting services, while Eda Kibuthia would be in charge of the county treasury.

Reports by Daily Nation stated that Njeri confirmed their resignations and further stated that this time they had left the posts for good.

Daily nation further reported that the governor had issued the department with a list of companies that were to be paid, but Njeri and her team secretly paid firms that they thought were more deserving.

The move by Njeri and her team is said to be the reason that the governor got angered and replaced them at the county finance department.
