Grisly Road Accident Sweeps Man's Entire Family

A man identified as Chiriswa, in Shisisia village in Matawa, Mumias in Kakamega County, was on Thursday left mourning after he lost his wife and two children in a road accident.

The mother, Lilian Adhiambo, 25, and her children Davin Chiriswa, 3, and Wilbroda Murono, 7 months, were riding on a motorcycle when they were hit by a tractor.

Lilian and her children are reported to have perished in the accident while on their way to Indangalasia Dispensary in Matungu.

Reports by Nation disclose that an eyewitness, George Wanga, stated the tractor was on its way from River Nzoia where it had gone to collect sand.

The motorbike that was carrying Adhiambo and her children, was also headed in the same direction as the tractor.

Wanga, who was at the river, claims to have heard a loud bang and on rushing to the scene, found the three dead.

Wanga described, “It was absolutely shocking to discover there were three fatalities. It was heartbreaking to see the woman with her two children dying on the road as there was nothing we could do to save them.”

“He knocked the motorcycle from behind and drove over the passengers crashing them,” he added.

Mumias Traffic Base Commander Agnes Habbart confirmed the incident stating that the driver of the tractor was arrested and will be charged with careless driving.

The rider of the motorcycle, however, escaped narrowly with minor injuries.

“I am highly concerned with the increase in traffic accidents involving boda bodas and urge other road users to be cautious,” admitted Habbert.

Chiriswa lamented over the unfortunate happenings that befell him.

“I am grieving the tragic deaths of my wife and our two daughters. I only had the two daughters and now that they have been killed alongside their mother. I have been left alone without anybody else in my house. It is difficult to explain or deal with the shock of the horrific crash,” cried the distraught Chiriswa.

He further appealed for support to offset the mortuary bill and funeral expenses.
