Watch Rare Footage of Cheerful Jowie Irungu in Prison

Kenyans.co.ke landed upon rare footage of Joseph Irungu aka Jowie, who is charged with the murder of Nairobi businesswoman Monica Kimani, in all smiles and cheers as a Nairobi pastor, Reverend Lucy Natasha prayed for inmates at Kamiti Maximum Prison.

The footage is part of Betty Kyalo’s K24 Show dubbed UpClose With Betty.

The service was attended by a number of inmates as the reverend’s church members conducted the service.

Jowie Irungu was spotted among inmates as he clapped and smiled while enjoying the service.

The murder suspect was dressed in a prison uniform.

Prior to that, the Nairobi based Pastor informed the K24 anchor that she has been giving back to the society by giving hope to the inmates.

"Actually, it’s been something I have been doing for a while. It’s because I have a strong passion for just giving hope for people who feel rejected. This is a prison where people are on a life sentence. I tell them to look at Kamiti as a college and not a prison,” Natasha explained.

Jowie Irungu and Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe denied murdering business lady Monica Juma at her home in Lamuria Gardens apartment on September 19, 2018.

During the murder trial of slain businesswoman Monica Kimani crime scene officer, Jennifer Jepkosgei revealed that there was a briefcase hidden in Citizen TV journalist, Jacque Maribe's ceiling.

Jepkosgei disclosed that the briefcase contained ammunition, spent cartridges wrapped in a white paper and two empty magazines.

The prosecution, led by Catherine Mwaniki also amended Irungu's name to include his alias 'Harun'.

Initially, the charge sheet only had Joseph Irungu, alias, 'Jowie'.
