Details of Newly Launched TV47

Simon Gicharu, the founder of Mt. Kenya University, has launched a new TV station that started broadcasting on Friday midnight and was officially launched on Saturday.

The new broadcaster on the block is dubbed TV47 with 'Macho na Sauti Yetu' being the official slogan.

The station that is going to be fully Swahili becoming the major competitor to QTV that is set to relaunch in a few weeks.

Management of the new broadcaster has promised to change the game with new innovative and interactive programs.

Enjoy cutting edge informative content from news, debates, coverage of live events and entertainment that is mind-blow,” the station tweeted.

In a new interactive platform, the station promised to hold monthly debates and symposiums that would address a myriad of issues within the Kenyan context.

The station during the conception period also promised to bring back the investigative piece ‘Jicho Pevu’ that used to air on KTN.

Nyali MP Mohammed Ali took to social media in a cryptic tweet on his imminent return to TV through the brand new station.

A camera as revolutionary as you are! I am coming. A new station, new deal. Guess who’s coming to dinner?" Mohammed tweeted.

In June the station raided other local broadcasters and left with a few of their reporters and anchors.

Venessa Ndavi, Lucy Riley, Clifford Omwega were poached from KTN where they were said to be interning, Abubakar Abdullahi, also from KTN, will head the newsroom.

The first symposium that the station held was on health matters with Indian doctor professor Palep Jaydeep being the main speaker.
