The announcement of new fuel prices on Sunday by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), declared tough times for Petrol users and at the same time came as a relief for Kerosine and diesel users.
The changes are set to take effect as from July 14, Sunday Midnight to August 14.
In the latest review, the body announced that the maximum allowed petroleum pump prices in Nairobi are super petrol Kshs 0.29 per litre and while Diesel & Kerosene decrease by Sh. 0.88 and Sh. 2.31 respectively.
"In accordance with Legal Notice No.196 of 2010, the Energy (Petroleum Pricing) Regulations and the amendment thereof EPRA has calculated the maximum retail pump prices of petroleum products," read the notice by EPRA Director-General Pavel Oimeke read.
This month's pump prices are inclusive of 8% Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2018 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation via Legal Notice No. 109 of July 9.
In the latest review by EPRA, Petrol prices in Nairobi will now retail at Ksh 115.39, diesel at Ksh103.88 and kerosene at Kh101.97 per litre.
In Mombasa, petrol will retail at Ksh 112.74, Diesel Ksh 101.25 and Kerosene Ksh 99.35.
This month's changes in this month’s prices have been as a consequence of the landed cost of imported Super Petrol decreasing by 1.83% from US$ 538.08 per cubic metre in May 2019 to US$ 528.26 per cubic metre in June 2019.
Other major towns will also have their prices increase with petrol in Nakuru retailing at Ksh 115.86, Diesel Ksh104.58 and kerosene Ksh 102.69.
In Eldoret, petrol will retail at Ksh116.86, Diesel Ksh 105.59 and Kerosene Ksh 103.68 per litre..
