Kiss FM's Lynda Nyangweso Breaks Down While Narrating Suicide Attempt

Kiss FM's media personality, Linda Nyangweso, took to social media to share a moving story of her struggle with cyberbullies.

The video was inspired by a photo that she posted recently of her family enjoying a vacation on the beach.

In the photo, the jovial radio personality was dressed in a flowered Kimono over a purple swimsuit and was posing beside her husband, who had carried their daughter on his shoulders.

According to the Kiss FM presenter, the photo attracted very mean comments from her social media followers with one even referring to her as a whale.

"Somebody called me a whale, I think that was one of the most creative ones, I appreciate that at least you did your research, they called me specifically a beluga whale," she stated amid laughter.

"I posted the picture and I went on with my vacation. It's only afterwards that I saw the people expected me to wear, I don't know, garbage bags?" she wondered.

Lynda, who has been a radio presenter, content creator, voice-over artist for Highly Unqualified with Lynda Nyangweso at Kiss Fm, disclosed her battle with suicidal attempts in her heyday, because of the frequent mean looks and hushed comments concerning her weight.

The frequent stares made her paranoid and uncomfortable to a point that she contemplated suicide.

"When I was young, I had always struggled with my weight, I remember I would never eat in public, I became so paranoid that people stared at me when I ate, I started eating in the toilet, which was just ridiculous," admitted Nyangweso.

"I was sad, I was like 'I'm going to kill myself and this is how it's going to happen', it's just how it's going to have to be. The only reason I didn't go through with the suicide, was because I worried that my mum wouldn't find a coffin that would fit me," narrated a teary Nyangweso.

She acknowledged the immense support from her husband, who according to her, is blind to most of the negative comments about her weight, even when netizens directly messaged him.

Lynda further revealed that the meanest comment she ever came across was one about her daughter, that pointed out that she did not deserve motherhood.

She posted, "The meanest comment I have come across was probably a comment about my child, that I had no right to have a child because of how I looked."

The emotion-laden Nyangweso also sympathised with other girls who have suffered as a result of cyberbullying and condemned the insensitive act.

"If I was to sit down with a bully, I would show kindness, because that's what I feel like is lacking so much in this space we're in," maintained Lynda.

"When it comes to social media, stop following people who make you feel bad about yourself. Mute people in your life who bring in negativity and protect your peace," she concluded.
