CS Magoha's Advice to Students That Touched US Ambassador

The US ambassador to Kenya Kyle McCarter on Wednesday revealed a piece of advice to students by Education CS George Magoha that he agreed with.

Taking to Twitter, the outspoken leader posted a small clip in which the CS was giving a speech to a congregation.

In the clip, Magoha narrated an unflattering experience in which he had to travel for kilometers to get a plumber in a country where many youth are unemployed.

"I was looking for a good plumber in my home in Yala and I had to go to Kisumu which is about 40 Kilometers away. How stupid can we be as a community?

"We are very stupid including me, because in my town, there should have been several plumbers. There are very many problems with water but there is no honour in being a plumber, the honour is to go to university," he stated.

Touched by the speech, the ambassador referenced the clip with a caption in which he shared his own journey of enlightening Kenyans to ensure they get jobs.

He even told of his friend who is on high demand because of his 'hands-on' choice of a career.

"(I have) been telling this story to youth in Tharaka Nithi for years. What is better? A degree with no job or a skill that people need and will pay for?

"My friend Kalonzo is the best electrician in Mukothima. He is in high demand. Always working. Providing for his family," expressed McCarter.

The ambassador has in the past blasted politicians in government over corruption.

"Kenyan leaders are praying and asking for forgiveness for the sin of thievery at the 17th annual National Prayer Breakfast.

"What a good start to take the nation on the path of prosperity the wananchi (citizens) deserve. We must all do our part," he posted during the National Prayer Breakfast in May.
