6 Die in Tragic Road Accidents

Six people were reported to have died in fatal road accidents on Sunday.

The lives are said to have been lost in separate accidents that occurred in Kirinyaga and Nakuru counties respectively.

On Sunday evening at around 5:30 pm, three people died while one sustained serious injuries following a road accident on the Nakuru-Dondori-Lanet Road, near Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) barracks.

Reports by Daily Nation indicated that Nakuru Sub-County Police Commander, Elena Kabukuro, disclosed that the accident, involved a saloon car and a motorbike.

"The motorbike was heading to Nakuru from Dundori side. It was carrying four passengers,” explained Kabukuro.

"The motorbike rider and two of his passengers died on the spot while the third victim was rushed to the Nakuru Level 5 Hospital, " Kabukuro added.

The law enforcer further stated that the motorbike, which was moving at a high speed, kept swerving on the road.  

 

Bottles of alcohol are also reported to have been recovered at the scene of the accident.

In another incident in Kirinyaga, three people were killed in an accident that involved a boda boda and a lorry.

The motorbike is said to have rammed into an oncoming lorry at Piai area on the Mwea-Embu road in Kirinyaga.

Pictures taken at the scene of the accident showed the wreckage of the destroyed boda boda.

Citizen Digital reported that the lorry ferrying miraa hit the boda boda carrying three passengers from behind, killing them on the spot.

The boda boda rider survived with serious injuries and was rushed to Karira Mission Hospital.

Eyewitnesses said the lorry was speeding when it hit the boda boda.

The miraa vehicle was towed to Sagana Police Station while the three bodies were taken to Karira Mission Hospital mortuary.
