Ken Okoth's Mother & Wife Strongly Differ Over Burial

The late Kibra MP Ken Okoth's European wife and his mother, Angeline Ajwang, are reportedly not seeing eye to eye over his final rites.

According to a report by The Star, the two can not agree whether the deceased legislator should be buried or cremated.

A source who spoke to the publication revealed that Okoth had informed his wife, Monica, and younger brother that he wishes to be cremated upon his passing.

However, Okoth's mother has warned them against cremating her son's body.

She stated that she would boycott the final rights if her wish of burying her son in Kasawe in Homa Bay County is denied.

During an interview on K24, Ajwang explained that she would prefer to have her son interred at her home where she can see his grave every day.

Her family members fear that her health could deteriorate if her desire is ignored.

This development comes barely a day after the legislator's paternal family revealed that the Luo culture stipulated that he should be buried at the ancestral home of his late father in Kochia, Homa Bay County.

Raymond Mbai, the family spokesman, argued this would be in accordance with Luo traditions.

“When someone dies he should be buried within his father’s home. In this case, the MP comes from Kochia and should be buried in Kochia,” he stated.
