Kakamega Governor, Wycliffe Oparanya, on Tuesday, sent a stern warning to county employees who wear the same outfits to work on a daily basis.
Speaking during the swearing-in of the Kakamega County Public Service Board, the second-term governor noted that some of his staff had made a habit of re-using clothes.
Oparanya wondered how such employees expect to earn respect from their peers and the people that they are meant to serve.
“How can someone re-use the clothes and still want to be called honourable? I will not tolerate such behaviour in my government,” he posed.
The county boss also cautioned staffers who leave their coats hanging on their seats so that they don't show up at work.
"The other day when I walked into an office, I found coats hanging on the seats. I hope that behaviour is no longer there.
"I carried the coats here, I hope they are still here. I am going to deal with those people. That issue is not over, it's not that I've not had time to address it," Oparanya added.
He further asked the county employees to dress like people who earn salaries and warned that those with irritating dress codes risked losing their jobs.
During his address, Oparanya also urged the executive to be responsible and do their work diligently without wrangling with their juniors.
