Dejected Ken Okoth’s Mother to Bury Banana Stem

On Saturday, the late Ken Okoth’s maternal nephew, Elvis Oluoch, stated that they were disappointed with the decision to cremate the former Kibra MP.

Therefore, mourning Ken’s mother, Angeline Ajwang Ongere, decided to resort to burying a banana stem to symbolise the internment of her son, after skipping the cremation

“Ken Okoth’s mother will travel to Kabondo later today (Saturday, August 3). Tomorrow (Sunday, August 4), she is expected to dig a grave and bury a banana stem in Kabondo Kasipul. That would symbolise that she buried someone she loved dearly,” Oluoch painfully stated.

Oluoch accused the late MP’s widow, Monica Okoth, for championing his cremation, despite the family’s outcry.

We only hear that Ken left a Will directing he be cremated upon death. None of our family members has set eyes on that said-Will.

All through, we were making arrangements to have Okoth transported to Kabondo Kasipul and be rested on his mother’s land. We did not know that Monica had other plans,” Oluoch told Citizen TV.

He further denied knowledge of Ken Okoth’s paternal family.

Why should we bury the banana stem in Rangwe? They have never been there for us. “We only heard about them on media,” Oluoch angrily stated.

Oluoch, disclosed that the family was fully aware of Ken Okoth's son, Jayden, as well as his mother Nominated MCA, Anne Muthoni Thumbi.

Oluoch further revealed that Okoths’s widow, Monica Okoth, also knew about the child and that there was no need to take DNA samples.

Ken Okoth’s mother, Angeline Ajwang, told K24 Digital on Saturday that she skipped Okoth’s cremation because her traditions do no permit her to do so.

The late Okoth was cremated at the Kariokor Crematorium on Saturday, August 3.
