Panic as Grenade is Found Near MP's Office [VIDEO]

Fear gripped residents of Kiwanjani area, Isiolo County,  on Tuesday, after a grenade with a potential to explode was discovered near the office of the county's Woman Representative, Jaldesa Rehema Dida.

Speaking after the realisation, Laikipia Sergeant, Peter Ogolla, confirmed that the safety pin had already detonated but the grenade contained little explosive.

He further added that the grenade had been in the area for a while and was used for practice.

"Ile kitu imepatikana hapa ni grenade ambayo ilikuwa imekaa kwa muda. Hata nikiangalia safety pin yake ilikuwa imetoka na ni ya practice. Ya practice hukuwa na little explosive ndani.

"(What was found was a grenade that had been in the area for a while. Even when I studied it, its safety pin was missing and it had been used for practice. Practice grenades usually contain very little explosive material,)" stated Ogolla.

The device was discovered by residents who were working at a construction site in the area.

"Tulikuwa tunachimba migongi hapa...sasa tukaona kitu inakaa kama grenade tukashtuka alafu tukapigia polisi simu.

"(We were at work drilling here...Then we saw something that looks like a grenade which shocked us. We later called the police,)" narrated the witness.

The officers arrived and sealed the scene before ballistic experts later detonated the explosive.
