Kenya’s Youngest MP Graduates [PHOTOS]

Igembe South MP John Paul Mwirigi, 25, the youngest legislator in Kenya, on Friday, obtained his undergraduate degree from Mount Kenya University.

Mwirigi graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree.

Funnyman MC Jessy, who is a close friend to the MP, took to social media to pen down a congratulatory message to Mwirigi.

“Congratulations Hon.John Paul, Member of Parliament Igembe South on your graduation today. My humble friend, may your light keep on shining. Meru county is proud of your achievements,” he posted.

The Igembe South MP shocked a lot of Kenyans in 2017 when he decided to contest for the seat as an independent candidate against other well-seasoned politicians.

Speaking to Nation, Mr Mwirigi revealed that he first expressed interest in politics while in form three at Kirindine Day secondary school.

I had a dream where I was tabling a motion in Parliament while I was in Form three. That is when I started asking my fellow students to start campaigning for me since I would need their vote in 2017.

I have held leadership positions in school and in my neighbourhood,” noted Mwirigi.

He captured the hearts of his constituents during the campaigns by visiting homesteads before receiving support from Boda Boda riders.

According to the residents, they decided to elect the young man despite lacking resources because they were confident he knew their problems and hoped he would address them.
