CS Magoha Exposes Schools' Plan to Cheat in Upcoming KCSE

Education CS, Prof George Magoha, has put schools from four regions on the spot over allegations of planning to cheat in the upcoming national exams.

The schools are located in Migori, Rongo, Homabay, parts of Kisii and the border town Isebania.

Addressing journalists, on Thursday, he communicated that officials from the ministry have been listening to reports that have been doing rounds in the regions, from people purporting to have access to examination questions.

"How can you have exams that are yet to be printed? Where did you get them?" he posed the question.

In a hard-hitting attack on principals from those regions, he instructed them to stop telling people that they have access to copies of exam questions.

He further cautioned parents to be vigilant and not to allow their children to be drowned by the claims being peddled by individuals whose only desire is to ruin their children's future.

"Parents, if you are listening, I am the one you should trust," he assured.

He further divulged that the change of guard does not mean laxity in the education sector and that the officials are keen, now more than ever and have put measures in place to ensure that the exams do not leak.

"This is the last class that had issues," he stated, referring to the widespread cheating that was witnessed in 2016.

Concerning the recent directive to prevent cheating in exams, he warned principals who are already inviting people to events in their schools and told them that they should have done it during the second term.

He explained that the third term is even shorter, given the fact that one week has already been nicked off for census purposes.

Any principal who contravenes these directives has been promised swift and hard-hitting action.
