Matiang'i Launches Device to Solve Crime in 45 Minutes

Interior CS, Fred Matiang'i, has hailed the acquisition of new futuristic DNA analysis equipment by the Government Chemist as a new dawn in the fight against crime.

The state-of-the-art machinery was acquired to aid in carrying out forensic DNA analysis.

CS Matiang'i, during the official unveiling of the new equipment, stated that this would totally change the efficiency and speed at which crimes were solved.

"This is a great day for our country. You very well know that we have quite a number of unsolved cases. The new machinery will not only make our investigation work easier, but parentage testing as well," he divulged during his address.

He went on to assure that he was committed to further boosting the department's capacity, as per instructions from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

According to the vocal CS, equipping the government chemist offices in Kisumu and Mombasa with similar machinery, was next on the ministry's agenda.

The 3500xL Genetic Analyzer, which cost Ksh40 million, is the world's current ultimate forensic evidence collection equipment & will expedite the adjudication of criminal cases & paternity disputes.

Government Chemist, Ali Gakweli, further revealed that the department was now working around the clock to clear up the countless cases that had piled up over the years.

“The new machine can handle 24 stains within 45 minutes and this means the output is enhanced,” he stated.

Inspector-General of Police, Hilary Mutyambai was also present at the event, where plans to set up a new government laboratory in Isiolo, to tackle crimes in the country's northern corridor, was announced.
