Flying Squad Pounce on State House Impostor

Flying squad officers, on Friday, arrested a man who was purporting to be a  State House official.

The Standard stated that impersonator was apprehended in Limuru after allegedly swindling a trader of Ksh3 Million with the promise of securing a government job.

Flying Squad chief Musa Yego confirmed that the suspect had used powerful officials' names including former Head of Public Service Francis Muthaura to woe the unsuspecting businessmen.

The 45-year-old man is said to have conned two businessmen out of Ksh10 Million by stating that he was serving at the Office of the President and had once worked under Muthaura at State House.

Yego revealed that eight arrest warrants had been issued against the impostor by two courts in Nairobi after he was charged with stealing by false pretense.

Incidences of the conmen impersonating State House officials have been reported.

Earlier in February, conmen posing as President Uhuru Kenyatta defrauded a Nairobi businessman of Ksh80 million pretending that they would award him with state tenders.

They were, however, arrested by detectives from the DCI Special Crime Prevention Unit.

So well organised are the criminals, that they have perfected the art of mimicking the President’s voice to near perfection.

The men were identified as Joseph Waswa, Duncan Muchai, Isaac Wajekeche, William Simiyu,  David Luganya,  Gilbert Kirunja and Anthony Wafula.
