Wanted Billionaire's Wife Hits IG Mutyambai With Fresh Lawsuit

Wanted Billionaire Ali Punjani's wife, Karki Shushmija, on Wednesday, September 4, went after the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai with a new lawsuit.

The Star reported that Shushmija resorted to the move after a raid that was carried out in her Mombasa home leading to the seizure and confiscation of their valuables.

She is seeking the court to compel Mutyambai and his police force to return possessions that they took away from her family.

The properties include title deeds, money in foreign currencies, cheque books, logbooks, vehicle keys, laptops and passports among others.

“The seizure of valuables and confiscation of personal documents, money, title deeds, logbooks, cheque books among other valuables was a violation of my fundamental rights,” reads part of the suit.

In the raid that was carried out in early August, Shushmija was arrested alongside two other people who were inside the palatial Nyali home at the time.

Shushmija also claimed that the raid was unlawful and malicious and she is, therefore, seeking a declaration stating that her arrest and seizure of valuables contravened her right to protection.

Also mentioned in the suit are Nyali Sub-County police commander Simon Thrikiwa, Patrick Lumbasi, Noah Sangut, Lilian Mutuku, Anthony Muriithi, Josphat Kisingils and Solomon Gachia.

The raid was ordered by the IG and overseen by the then county police commandant Johnstone Ipara merely days after CS Fred Matiang'i had toured the region.

Shushmija was released in mid-August after the judge rejected the State’s request to detain them for seven more days. The prosecution did not have sufficient evidence when the 24-hour they were given to press charges elapsed.
