Modern Coast Bus Crashes in Uganda, Deaths Reported [PHOTOS & VIDEO]

Several people are feared dead following a grisly road accident on Sunday, September 15, along the Iganga-Bugiri highway in Uganda.

Uganda's Daily Monitor reported that the accident involved a Modern Coast bus travelling from Kenya and a trailer bearing Ugandan plates.

In photos seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the bus is extensively damaged, with several passengers' belongings strewn all over the scene.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that approximately eight people lost their lives in the horrific road accident.

According to Besweri Kawanguzi an eyewitness who spoke to Uganda's Daily Monitor, the accident between the bus with the registration Number KBU 651Q and the trailer a ZE 2344 occurred at around 5.30am.

Kawanguzi, who was on his way to the garden at the time of the accident, added that the trailer driver lost control and veered to the right-hand side of the road where he collided with the bus.

The police are reported to have arrived at the scene immediately and the officer-in-charge of traffic at Bugiri Police Station, Hopkins Twesiga, confirmed that three people died on the spot, while five were pronounced dead on their arrival at Bugiri Hospital.

Twesiga further disclosed that the driver of the trailer and his colleague died on the spot.

The other passengers were rushed to different hospitals in Uganda including Bugiri, Iganga and Fast Line Medical Centre in Bugiri.
