Ruto Ally Trolled For Allegedly Abusing Disabled Man

Laikipia Woman Representative Catherine Waruguru was on Saturday, September 14, on the receiving end of Kenyans wrath after claims surfaced online that she had verbally assaulted a disabled man at a parking lot in Nairobi.

Through a post on Facebook seen by kenyans.co.ke, a visually impaired man alleged that the Laikipia woman rep's driver had blocked the disability parking lot at the Reinsurance Plaza.

An attempt to squeeze their way out of the space led to a mini-accident with the SUV, resulting in a flare of tempers.

The scene of the accident that caused a flare-up between Laikipia Woman Rep Catherine Waruguru and Nyoike. Nyoike accused Waruguru of assaulting them after the incident.

He claimed that he tried to raise the complaint when Waruguru walked out of the building, but she did not want to hear a word and instead grabbed the driving license, hurled unprintables at them and sped off.

They alleged that despite attempts to reason with her to wait for the police, she ignored the request even as they tried to explain to her the exclusivity of the disability parking slots.

She is alleged to have also dared them to report her to the DCI.

The Facebook post also called out people who take advantage of those with disabilities with caution that it was offending to be referred to as 'living' with a disability as if it were a roommate.

Instead, the author of the post suggested that it was better to refer to them as People With Disability (PWD) as opposed to People Living With Disability (PLWD).

Earlier on March 2019, Waruguru arrested for allegedly inciting Probox and Sienta taxi owners against the police in Nanyuki.

“I’m inciting nobody… Are taxi operators criminals? Get yourself busy doing some meaningful work, arrest criminals, the Al Shabaab terrorists, and bandits, that is your work. Stop intimidating young men and women who are doing business," she told the police officer leading the operation.

Laikipia Women Representative Catherine Waruguru. She has been accused of snatching a driver's license from Nyoike after a minor mishap outside Re-insurance.

In July 2018, she turned heads when she complained about being denied entry into a Kericho hotel because they could not produce a document to show that she was married to the man she was with.

By the time of going to press, our calls to the woman representative remained unanswered.
