Uhuru Faces Backlash After Military Choppers Purchase [VIDEO]

President Uhuru Kenyatta is the latest recipient of peoples' wrath after a purchase of some military choppers was made public.

On Sunday, September 22, Lugari MP Ayub Savula condemned the state of making the expensive purchase, which he placed at Ksh140 billion, while Mumias Sugar Company's financial woos was still going.

He further argued that the miller only needed a small percentage of the finances yet the state was not doing anything to revive it.

"I have seen wonders today. Kenya purchased military choppers worth Ksh140 billion yet Mumias Sugar Company needs only Ksh5 billion.

"Would that money have been used to purchase the choppers or used to revive the company?" posed Savula.

"We are not even fighting right now with our neighbours, why did we spend all that money on military choppers? I ask President Uhuru Kenyatta to use that money to uplift our women," he added.

On Tuesday, September 17, Kenyans.co.ke, however, reported that Uhuru was set to receive six high-end military helicopters after his deal with the United States suffered a glitch earlier this year.

The equipment was part of the deal that President Uhuru Kenyatta signed with the US in 2017 worth Ksh25 Billion.

The six Helicopters of MD Helicopters Inc (MDHI) MD530F Cayuse Warrior Scout make were scheduled to arrive in Kenya between April and August but a delay arose.

The company that was tasked with making the delivery, however, never provided reasons for the delay in delivery.
