Ruto's Heartfelt Message After Visiting Pupils Injured in Collapsed Classroom [PHOTOS]

Deputy President (DP) William Ruto on Monday, September 23 shared an emotional message with those affected by the collapsed school after visiting them in hospital.

The DP visited the injured Precious Talent primary school pupils at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) where they had been admitted.

Ruto also grieved with the bereaved families in a heartfelt message that also vouched for the steady recovery of the injured students.

"Condolences to the families that have lost their loved ones in the unfortunate incident at Precious Talent School, Nairobi County. Quick recovery to the injured. 

He went on to explain that concerned agencies had been mobilised to address the situation further urging the government to create safe spaces for children to learn.

He also took to his Twitter where he echoed Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha ascertaining that "the Ministry of Education would carry out an audit to ascertain the safety of all school buildings countrywide to avert incidents that put the lives of learners at risk."

He also advised that it was not the learners' duty to worry about their safety but the government's.

"We must ensure a conducive learning experience for our children, including laying proper infrastructure and enhancing safety standards. Learners should concentrate on classwork and not worry about their safety," stated Ruto.

This comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga also condoled with the affected families.

The government Spokesman Cyrus Oguna had earlier on assured that the government would cater for the medical fees of the 64 injured pupils.

A classroom full of pupils on Monday at 7 am collapsed at Precious Talent School along Ngong Road in Nairobi claiming seven lives with 64 others rushed to KNH.

Speaking at the scene of the incident, the no-nonsense CS explained that he had personally assessed the classroom in the institution and that one was not properly constructed.

He further added that the contractor had created a foundation fo a single-story building before later deciding to add another floor to the building.

He thus announced a 4-day closure of the school urging learners to stay at their homes adequate measures will be put in place to ensure their safety of learning.
