Video of Murkomen Crying Out in Pain Surfaces

A video surfaced online on Monday, September 23, showing Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen writhing in pain, after suffering a shoulder injury during a football match against Kitui MCAs on September 16.

In the clip, Murkomen can be seen lying on the ground clutching his arm and shouting “Don’t touch me!” at the first aiders.

Taking to social media, the senator explained that he was in pain because of a tear on his coracoclavicular ligament.

He also added that he cautioned anyone against touching him to prevent damage that would have been caused by poor first aid.

“Last week I fell and tore my coracoclavicular ligament during a soccer game. Even in my pain and having realized my collarbone was nearly protruding, I managed to protect self from the dangers of poor first aid. I got to the hospital, surgery done and now I’m fine,” Murkomen posted on his social media platforms.

While some cheeky Kenyans made fun of the politician, others commented that the video made them realise the extent of his injury.

“Mheshimiwa I had seen the photos and thought it was a joke until I saw the video. This thing was so serious, how dare you dive on such a construction site field, full of debris. Tujenge ma stadii tafadhali (Please let's build stadiums)!” posted Albert Nyakwara.

City lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi castigated netizens who teased Senator Murkomen, citing that it was in bad taste to make jokes about the unfortunate incident.

“I think it is gross and even callous to make fun of a badly injured amateur football player in great pain and discomfort,” the advocate opined.

Senator Murkomen’s injury was not in vain as the Senate snatched a 3-2 win against the MCAs from Kitui
