Three Suspected Killers of Ruto's Aide's Father Arrested

Three suspects are facing trial over the brutal murder of Deputy President William Ruto's communications aide Emmanuel Talam's father.

According to a report by The Star, Talam's father, Benjamin Koech, 85, went missing in April last year only for his body to be found in a river in Nandi county.

The three suspects who have been charged by the killing include Dorcas Chelegat, Silas Kipkemboi Too, alias Mationg and Hillary Kipchirchir Korir, alias Kipkosgei.

The deceased's widow Monicah Koech told the court that her husband's trousers, safari boots and a shirt were recovered inside Chelagat's house, one of the key suspects.

She further revealed that her husband had mentioned the suspect's name to her as a long-time customer of his shop.

“It was a shock to me and I could not believe it. I wondered what could have happened.

“I have never seen nor met Chelagat. It’s the first time I'm seeing her. My husband had told me that she was one of his regular customers,” narrated Monicah.

The case's prosecution further claimed that the three suspects waylaid the deceased and killed him while he was leaving Simbi shopping centre where his shop is located.

“I tried to call his mobile phone but it was off. It worried me because it was unusual for his phone to be switched off," she continued.

A witness corroborated her story explaining that they recovered Benjamin's body from the river and found a phone and a rosary from his pockets.

“We called the police from O’lessos after retrieving the body from the river. It was raining heavily and it was late in the night,” recounted Peter Kiplimo.
