Ruto's 1am Call to Father of Boy Killed by His Convoy

Felix Mambala the father of the boy who died after being hit by one of the cars belonging to Deputy William Ruto's convoy on Friday has revealed the details of the DP's 1am call to him.

Speaking to reporters from Royal Media, he recalled receiving the phone call from Ruto through the area police boss.

“The DP called the area OCPD and asked him to pass the phone to me. DP Ruto told me to take heart, promising to look into my family’s welfare. He also promised to foot all the funeral expenses,” Mambala narrated.

A postmortem conducted on the boy, Sidney, by Dr. Hillary Kiplagat of Busia County Referral Hospital, showed that the child succumbed to respiratory failure after blood flowed into his lungs.

Ruto has also called for investigations to be conducted, adding that the boy did not deserve to die in such a gruesome way.

“The DP has ordered the investigating officers to probe Sidney’s death, saying he [Ruto] believes the boy did not deserve to die in such a manner,” Ruto's Director of Communications Emmanuel Talam was quoted by Citizen Digital.

The DP also condoled with the family adding that he was saddened by the death of the young boy.

"Saddened by the news of the passing on of Sidney Mambala Felix, a young and bubbly boy. Followed closely the situation after I was informed of the unfortunate incident and, now, deeply condole with the family of Mzee Mambala, his peers and friends for the grave loss of a loved one.

"I have spoken with Mzee to pass my consideration and assured the family of reference and support during this difficult time. May God rest young Sidney in eternal peace." the DP tweeted.

Citizen Digital reported that Mambala was involved in the accident that happened at 4.50pm after the DP left St. Benedict's Budalangi Secondary School.
