ODM's Deleted Tweet on Aisha Jumwa That Has Caused a Stir

The Orange Democratic Movement has hurriedly deleted a tweet from their page.

The tweet suggested that Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa had abandoned Deputy President William Ruto's team and returned to her former party, ODM.

"Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa says ODM is her home and her DNA is ODM. She says she fully supports Bernard Okoth Imran, our candidate for the Kibra Parliamentary seat in the November 7 by-election," read the tweet.

The Secretary Digital. Innovations and Diaspora Communications, Dennis Itumbi, called out the party for their tweet, stating that it was fake news.

"Facts are strange things to this party but Etale uses the opportunity to shine. Do a statement with the truth on the matter," Itumbi wrote.

Shortly after the since-deleted tweet, the party stated that ODM leader Raila Odinga had chaired a meeting at the party's Parliamentary Group at County Hall.

"It was a brainstorming meeting which was aimed at fostering unity in the party at the legislative level. The party leader also used the occasion to introduce our Kibra Candidate Imran to Members," the tweet read.

Legislators present during the meeting agreed to support ODM's Kibra parliamentary candidate Imran Otieno in the November 7 by-election.

"The legislators unanimously agreed to support our candidate, Mr. Bernard Otieno Okoth Imran for the Kibra seat in the November 7 by-election.

The PG under the leadership of Minority Leader Hon. John Mbadi and Minority Whip Junet Mohammed agreed to support Imran’s campaign in Kibra in kind and by going to the ground to drum up the support for him," the party disclosed.
