Had Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo not become a legislator, he would have possibly led an illustrious career in the performing arts, that is if his early-life accolades were anything to go by.
Amollo revealed that he was actively involved in the drama club during his high school days at the famous Maranda High School.
Through his Twitter account on Sunday, October 6, the legislator recalled how the institution was awarded the Best Costume and Production prize during the 1987 National Drama Festivals.
The festivals were held at Kangaru High School in Embu, where he played a character called Rapala, in a play whose plot, he did not disclose. That was the same year he made his first visit to Nairobi.
The following year, Otiende received even more recognition after being crowned Best Actor at the National Drama Festivals held at Kisumu Boys High School.
He, however, had to quit acting to focus on his studies which he once disclosed that he was fixated on becoming a lawyer.
His desire to study law emanated from a need to fight against injustice after enduring a shameful eviction in his childhood.
Growing up with nine siblings, the respected advocate was brought up in a humble background with his father working as a casual labourer.
Upon completing his secondary education, Otiende was enrolled at the University of Nairobi to study law.
