Has Safaricom launched a new logo?
That was the question on many Kenyans minds after the telecommunications giant, on Monday, October 7, posted a picture with four different versions of the mobile money service M-PESA logo.
The post on their social media handles - Facebook, Twitter and Instagram - was accompanied by a simple caption 'Super excited about this new M-PESA logo'.
The post generated curiosity among observant netizens who were quick to notice to give their two cents on what the new log should entail.
Some were for the new logo, "I love it and it looks more attractive," one user wrote.
Others were equally excited by the new graphics but weren't really clear on which was the new logo.
"Super excited too. Which logo are we talking about," another user stated, with another posing, "Which one is the one selected? Or is that all four are the logo?"
Here are some of the reactions:
Other users were more curious about what the new logo meant for them as customers in terms of service.
"Should we expect another feature to M-Pesa with this new logo," a subscriber asked.
Sources at the telco remained tight-lipped if the post had been leaked or if it was indeed a planned move by Safaricom.
"Keep tabs on us here on our social media platform for upcoming updates," a customer service representative stated.
Safaricom pioneered commercial mobile money transfer globally through M-PESA, the most successful service of its kind anywhere in the world.
Launched in March 2007, M-PESA now has over 22.6 million active customers and over 167,000 M-PESA Agent outlets countrywide.
What do you think, should Safaricom adopt the new logo and what new services are you looking forward to?
